
GUSTAVO GARMIZO OD, FAAO
Gustavo Garmizo, OD, FAAO, is a board-certified optometric physician at West Broward Eyecare Associates in Tamarac, Florida. He specializes in ocular disease diagnosis and treatment, and in prescribing specialty contact lenses for astigmatism, keratoconus, post-surgery, and multifocal needs.
Dr. Garmizo completed his undergraduate education at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts, and then completed an externship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. He remained on the staff at Bascom for two years prior to opening West Broward Eye Care in 1985.
Dedicated to sharing his knowledge and expertise, Dr. Garmizo has given lectures and authored content for professional publications. Dr. Garmizo’s optometric experience includes serving as an officer of the Broward County Optometric Association, consultant and examiner to the Florida Board of Optometry, and an examiner for the National Board of Optometry. In addition, he served as a low vision panelist with the Florida Division of Blind Services.
Dr. Garmizo is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and Board Certified by the American Board of Optometry. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association Contact Lens Section, and the Broward County Optometric Association.
Dr. Garmizo is bilingual (Spanish/English) and enjoys martial arts training, golf, and fishing.
